Our Annual ReunionsWe hold an annual reunion to celebrate the family's accomplishments every year traditionally on the third Saturday in August to commemorate the death of our progenitor, Captain John Locke. This is usually in Rye, New Hampshire. We have done this since our founding without fail, even through two world wars. Over 300 cousins attended our 100th reunion and over 100 cousins commemorated the 300th anniversary of the death of our ancestor, Captain John Locke in 1996. Why Hold Reunions?Of course, there are the usual reasons but we have had significant experiences at our reunions. On two separate occasions cousins who thought they were orphans with no family connections, found their second, third and fourth cousins at a reunion! A nine year old who thought he had a small family arrived to find a room full of cousins. This opened his mind to a broader world. It was an experience he never forgot and which helped influence his career choice. |
The 120th Annual ReunionThe 120th Locke Family Association Reunion will be held in the Finger Lakes region of New York running Friday, July 30 through Sunday, August 1, 2010, with the annual meeting on Saturday. Programs will focus on celebrating Locke women, so contribute some of those stories to our VP Kate Aghaghiri. The Locke Family Association has changed the date to accommodate family summer vacations and earlier school start dates. So, be sure to bring the whole family, or contact Kate for help in creating a reunion within the reunion. |
